So my band was supposed to play this big festival next week on the 16th of May. Turns out, the entire festival was a fraud. Switchfoot was even originally on the bill, so it was supposed to be a pretty big deal. The owners of the property where it was supposed to take place were never even contacted. Check out THIS LINK for more info.

Its pretty crazy stuff. I’m bummed. I was looking forward to playing it. We dont have a lot of stuff set up this summer as of now, so hopefully that will pick up soon!

Other than that, I finished up this semester of school today. The bad news is, I’m starting summer class on Monday and I will be busy with that until I leave with CROSSWALK. I’m hoping nothing goes wrong with that!

You know that guy who always makes up stuff? Every time he says something is going to happen, it doesnt. I feel like that guy right now. This always happens to me. I told so many people my band was playing with Switchfoot, then they dropped off, then the whole festival turned out to be a scam. I feel like a loser but ITS NOT MY FAULT!!! A lot of people were scammed by this. Luckily, crosswalk happens every year so I know its legit. But since I’ve told so many people about this tour, it would be my luck for something to fall through with it. I’m just praying it everything goes smoothly! I cant wait to go with them!

Thats all for now.

so heres a video of our last show. it isnt the best quality, because the sound at this place wasnt all that great. i also look really lame, maybe partly because there wasnt a lot of room to move, and there was junk all over the floor where i was, but anyways, ill quit making excuses. just check it out!

We’re more than carbon and chemicals
We are the image of the invisible
Free will is ours and we can’t let go
We are the image of the invisible
We can’t allow this, the quiet cull
We are the image of the invisible
So we sing out this, our canticle
We are the image of the invisible

We all were lost now we are found
No one can stop us or slow us down
We are the named and we are known
We know that we’ll never walk alone

We’re more than static and dial tone
We are the image of the invisible
We’re emblematic of the unknown
We are the image of the invisible
So raise the banner, bend back your bows
We are the image of the invisible
Remove the cancer, take back your souls
We are the image of the invisible

Raise up the banner, bend back your bows
Remove the cancer, take back your souls

So last night, LYP played a show in Athens. It was a lot of fun. However, this bar was pretty crappy. It was definitely one of the smaller places I have ever played, but it didnt matter. We still rocked it out!

Before the show, we went and took some new pictures. In a few days, the pictures should be up on the band myspace. Now I wont feel like a tool when people look at our page, and wonder why I’m not on there.

I guess there wasnt much of a point in updating this right now, because I’m going to update it again with pictures and video from the show. This is my 2nd show with these guys, but its the first one where we have pictures and video. So I will be sure to share as soon as i get them.

Every time I read this, it blows my mind. This is C.S. Lewis’ response to this question:

Materialists and some astronomers suggest that the solar planetary system, and life as we know it was brought about by an accidental stellar collision.  What is the Christian view of this theory?

‘If the solar system was brought about by an accidental collision, then the appearance of organic life on this planet was also an accident, and the whole evolution of Man was an accident too. If so, then all our present thoughts are mere accidents—the accidental by-product of the movement of atoms. And this holds for the thoughts of the materialists and astronomers as well as for anyone else’s. But if their thoughts—i.e. of materialism and astronomy—are merely accidental by-products, why should we believe them to be true? I see no reason for believing that one accident should be able to give me a correct account of all the other accidents. It’s like expecting that the accidental shape taken by the splash when you upset a milkjug should give you a correct account of how the jug was made and why it was upset.’

This came out of a book I have called, “God in the Dock.”  It’s full of short articles that he’s written and I found this in there a while back, so I thought I would share.

What do you think about his response?

So me and Ike (the world famous drummer/champion frappuchino maker) decided that we were going to go see August Burns Red last night in Augusta. Thats a pretty long haul from where I live in Atlanta, so I drove to his place in Milledgeville to meet up with him. Now, Milledgeville is a pretty long haul as well, but we had band practice the next day, (today now) so the plan was to just crash as his place, then we could head straight from there to practice. So I make the two hour drive to Milly, and met him at starbucks, where I am greeted with the most disgusting frappuchino I have ever had in my life. (There should be a picture of it to the right…) This thing had about every flavor possible in it, as well as a whole bag of whole bean coffee. The whole bean coffee was still in the bag when they put it in the blender, so this particular frappuchino was full of blended up pieces of plastic. I think i still have plastic in my mouth.

After all of that, we finally hit the road to the show. I get on my phone to look up directions and I notice something strange. On the venue’s web site, it said that the show was on April 25th, not on April 24th…. and all of this happened on April 24th…. Some how we both thought the show was on the 24th and we were both wrong. Ha!

Then we just hung out around Milledgeville which was fun, but not as fun as it should have been because we were so bummed about not getting our faces mutilated by one of the few heavy bands worth going to see. I dont like many metal bands anymore, but this band blows my mind. Check them out HERE!! In the end, we both felt really stupid.

What are some bands/singers that blow your mind? And if you read this, answer it. Dont make me look stupid by asking a question then getting zero replies. Haha!

Someone should buy me THIS. That would be awesome!

Anyways…. I tried to make this thing look a little cooler. What do you think? I also put some hip stuff in the column to the right you should check out. I’m a loser…. I know.

I’m gonna try and update more too. I say that all the time, but im for real this time.

-Kurtis

How’s that title?

I bet you thought this was going to be something deep and hip… didn’t you?  Well it’s not.  I’m just sitting here watching my team, (the Braves) wishing that my dad had pushed me harder to be a baseball player, instead of playing guitar. Haha!  I want to be on the Braves!  But since I’m not, I do the next best thing, and that’s play the guitfiddle with my friends.  My new band, Last Year Portrait has a show next week in Athens. Check the link above for more info. Hopefully at least some of the millions of people who read this will come. I love playing with those dudes so far. They’re great! I think we are also going to take some new pics next week. That way, there will actually be pictures of me on the myspace, and people will actually believe me when I say I play with them. Ha!

But I think that’s it for now. I’m going to make dinner/study/watch the ball game.

Peace!

So i havent updated this in a while, but over the past year i have developed some important life goals. And here are the 3 most important.

in this order..

1) Get Chipper Jones to sign the ball he hit to me in batting practice. (Actually, he hit it to James Parr, then James Parr gave it to me.)

2) Get Tom Glavine to sign my copy of his autobiography that i bought at a thrift store for a dollar.

3) Go fishing with George W. Bush. This one is probably the least likely to happen, but it would be awesome!

Thats it for now. Ill be sure and update this if any of these ever happen! HA! leave me comments or something on here.

so i found out one of my favorite bands of all time (probably my number one actually) is getting back together. I grew up listening to these guys and no other band inspired me to start playing music more than these guys. hooray for BLINK 182!!

thats been the best news ive heard in a while!

but anyways, i never update this thing anymore…. but ill try to change that. because i know how many of you check this thing everyday to see if i have  blessed you with any more insightful thoughts. oh well.
